Trash Talk
I've discovered a new winner in the consumer satisfaction game, that rare product that "I'll never not own" - the simplehuman garbage can.
You can't see the trash, you can't smell the trash, you can't see a trash bag. You step on a pedal, the lid opens, you step off and it slowly closes.
No more buying crappy trash cans at Target (or the same crappy trash can at Pier 1 for 20% more).

That is a thing of beauty!
I found the rack and pinion opening mechanism to have flimsy plastic parts in key wear points between the peddle and lid.
Obviously you have not tried a Brabantia. They put all other trash cans to shame.
A word, if I may, in favor of Target garbage cans. The ones made by Sterilite, in particular - no, they're not aesthetically fabulous, but the company has been very good (and quick) about sending me free replacement parts any time a part (usually one of the lid springs) goes south on me.
I love their recycling two part cans too. Very quiet and good looking.
