The Super Bowl

A die-hard Packers fan like me can't seem to transfer team loyalty to the Conference level - I really don't care who wins, NFC or AFC - but if I had to pick one, I'd like to see the Patriots win. They seem to have as good a "team" as any I can remember - no over-hyped superstars, just strength in numbers and faith in each other. Well, that and I hate the Eagles for the "fourth and 26" or whatever conversion last year....ugghh.

Hey, Tom. This will be cool. Don't forget about us at the SHIP though, OK?

I hate the Eagles for hiring Buddy Ryan way back when (it almost cost me my alliance with the Oilers when they hired him to be defensive coordinator, and then he punched out the offensive coordinator of his OWN TEAM on MNF!), and I hate them because they are in the NFC and major rivals of my beloved Cah boys.

Don't get me wrong, I like GB, too. Nut I became a Chicago Bears fan when a fellow from the town where I was born, Columbia, Mississippi, in the same hospital where I was born (though a couple of years before me), was drafted out of a small black college in MS. to be the feature running back for the Bears. Of course, I'm talking about the inimitable Walter Payton.

I don't presume to have had the same experience in Columbia that he had, but I had cousins who went to school with him and knew him since he was 5 or 6 years old. I was a Bears fan from then on, But when Favre went to the Packers, I became an instant fan. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for the Bears, but Favre is STILL playing... quite well, too.

Ah, well... To sum up a way-too-long story, since I don't really have a dog in this fight, and as much as I despise myself for doing it, I think I have to root for the underdog Eagles, though I doubt they will win. NE seems to still be riding the crest of the wave. I don't really like the Eagles, but I always seem to root for the underdog...

(Unless the favorite is a team I happen to support, which neither of these are.)

Yeah. I'm not sure what happened there. I suppose it could have been a double post. I can't imagine anything I said that would have been offensive to man or tree.

Nope - a simple double post is all it was...I won't be deleting anything but the most outrageous twaddle...
